Introduction
Frenzy offers an artificial intelligence-driven solution that enables content publishers to provide brand-specific visual search capabilities on their platforms or social media pages. This means that publishers can easily tag products and sources to buy them on the images they publish on their website, blogs, or social media pages. As a result, they can easily and almost immediately monetize their content without having to spend hours or days for the process.
The Product
Frenzy generates training datasets for complex computer vision systems that help brands and affiliate networks catalog their products, offer recommendations to customers, etc. Frenzy has developed an API that leverages this self-labeling data to classify products and objects in visual content. It claims that its API identifies fashion products from specific brands with 92% accuracy and exact-SKU fashion products with 40-60% accuracy.
In addition, by integrating the API into their platforms, e-commerce websites, affiliate platforms, and content publishers can generate lists of similar products for each item in their catalog to increase sales conversion. Further, the Frenzy API also allows customers to upload pictures onto a platform in order to locate the exact product or a visually similar product from the catalog.
Frenzy has developed a WordPress plugin called Fetch to enable content publishers such as fashion bloggers to monetize their audience with exact-match visual search. Fetch currently has over 600 fashion brand partners, including names such as Chanel, Forever 21, Levi’s, H&M, Nordstrom, Nike, Calvin Klein, Kate Spade, among others. The company’s website claims that Fetch is the first-ever AI-driven end-to-end content monetization solution for content publishers.
The API is also capable of performing deep visual and contextual analysis of influencer content across the web and social media platforms to provide complementary product recommendations to help fashion sellers achieve higher sales and increase average order sizes. Using the API, sellers can also show customers photos of influencers from the Fetch network wearing exact or similar products from their catalog. Further, Fetch’s advanced matching technology also helps brands find the right influencers for their social media campaigns based on their image data and past content, as well as manage and track all their campaigns from a single dashboard using the API.
Origin and Founding Team
James Chang is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Frenzy. He earned his BBA at the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship at the Bauer College of Business in the University of Houston. After graduating in 2014, James joined the clothing brand True Religion as a consultant, where he developed a clothing customization application in partnership with the company, which generated over 5,000 orders soon after its launch.
He then went on to work as an e-commerce manager at the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy Group. His experience at the company familiarized him with the fashion industry and the challenges faced by fashion content creators and affiliates in monetizing their content. This led him to work on developing a solution for various stakeholders and Frenzy was created as a result.
Performance and Trends
Frenzy was selected in 2018 for the USC Viterbi Startup Garage accelerator program. The company also raised $150K in an angel funding round from Quake Capital in 2018. According to its Crunchbase page, the company has been in the process of closing a licensing partnership with the world’s largest affiliate network to integrate Frenzy’s visual API and SaaS plugin with content monetization workflows of more than 2 million publishers and 5,000+ brands/retailers.
