Introduction

New York City-based AI.Reverie offers a customizable simulation platform which trains AI to learn about different aspects of the world. The company provides a suite of synthetic data and vision APIs that help businesses across various industries train their machine learning algorithms and improve their AI applications. Some of the most prominent use cases of AI.Reverie’s simulation platform include managing construction sites, enhancing public safety systems, maintaining heavy machinery, monitoring agricultural conditions, etc.

The Product

The simulation platform built by AI.Reverie uses algorithms and real location data to build photorealistic virtual worlds which are used to train machine learning models for purposes ranging from enterprise robotics to wildlife conservation. The platform claims to be capable of performing a wide range of simulations and learn from a diverse set of data. This includes visually generating different types of terrains, weather and lighting conditions, as well as modeling inanimate objects, people, animals, and vehicles.

AI.Reverie’s vision APIs and synthetic data provide scale and diversity to enterprise or industrial machine learning models and AI applications. The platform provides diverse and scalable images and scenarios which reduce bias and help algorithms generalize the synthetic data with greater accuracy. Additionally, AI.Reverie’s platform provides fully annotated, error-free, and synthetic data at scale, thus allowing clients to save time, reduce operating costs, and train the AI immediately in real-time.

Origin and Founding Team

AI.Reverie was founded in 2017 in New York City by Dael Kim, a former Senior Data Scientist at The New York Times, Joey Tran, Partner and Co-founder at Accelorn Law Group, and Paul Walborsky, former President and CEO of Gigaom. The company was established as a result of the founding team’s collective aim to improve areas such as food, health, shelter, and safety. Led by CEO Dael Kim, the team has since been leveraging the potential of AI to try to overcome the structural problems which hinder people across the globe from accessing these necessities.

Performance and Trends

In early 2019, AI.Reverie announced a strategic partnership and investment from In-Q-Tel (IQT), a not-for-profit strategic investor that identifies and accelerates the development of new technological solutions for the use of U.S. intelligence and defense agencies. With this partnership, AI.Reverie will provide its proprietary computer vision simulation platform to U.S. government agencies to aid them in meeting their operational requirements.

Early this year, AI.Reverie was also featured in the list of top 100 AI companies in the world released by global research firm CB Insights.
